Vietnam- Cambodia Mission Team- Update #3

Hello Family, prayer partners and friends,

Monday we wrapped up our time in Vietnam with a visit with the leader of our ministry there. Dr Nguyen Hang. We went to Dr Hang’s medical clinic, which is below the apartment/ home she shares with her husband Mr Hai, and their 13 “Gospel House kids” whom they love and raise! Most were rescued from abortion over the years. Unwed mothers came for counsel to our Vital Links team of volunteers. Over the years more than 280 lives have been saved as moms hear the Gospel, come to faith in Christ, and then choose to give life to the little inside! Currently 13 live with Dr Hang and her husband. A few are pictured here!

ALWM’s Vital Links multi-faceted ministry here in Vietnam is all volunteer, except for our project manager. Various aspects of our ministry here require facilitation and follow up on this end! For 20 years Van Thanh served amazingly! In mid April he was informed that their nearly 9 year old applications to emigrate to the US were now approved.

The courage, servanthood, faithfulness and friendship of Van and his family over the years has been a tremendous blessing! He is pictured here with wife Thuy, Peter, and Anna!”.  They left for the USA at the end of April! Part of my task this visit was to find God’s choice for our next project manager!

The Lord exceeded our hopes by bringing us together with David (Duc) Tran (below). He is a long-time friend of Dr Hang’s and Mr. Hai’s family, heads an ESL Ministry here in Vietnam, serves as a coordinator for the work of the Billy Graham Association in two recent crusades, and is fluent in English after two years at a Christian University in the US about a decade ago. Our role is part time, so is a perfect fit for him and do us. He spent the weekend with our team in Khanh Vinh, and also at the final meeting Monday. To God be the Glory!

Tuesday our late afternoon flight to Siem Reap Cambodia turned into a late evening flight, but we arrived safely and were met by the founder of ALWM Cambodia, Pastor Sam Chim. The next morning Pastor Sam took Bella, Katherine and Alan to visit nearby Angkor Watt, a famous world heritage site nearby on our way to Preh Vihear.

As I prepare to send this in a few minutes, children are just starting to arrive for our first English Bible Camp in Cambodia! Please pray! Pastor Sam has been preaching and helping plant churches in Cambodia for more than 30 years! The reason we bring short term teams to Vietnam and Cambodia, for example, is to serve alongside our local leaders and their teams. Our presence and activities open doors for them: deepening relationships and gathering youth and adults who will be loved and served in the months that follow, like this english Bible camp! Please pray for God’s favor and presence with all we do here the next few days: preaching, conversational English, crafts, music, games, meals and more!

On behalf of the team,

Pastor Bill Moberly, Director of ALWM
